Largest pc monitors are fun, 3007wfp-hc: Exclusive Re-View

October 3rd, 2007

3007wfp-hc

So I recently got a Dell 3007wfp-hc, and let me tell you it is absolutely amazing. This flat panel is really clear. The 2560×1600 is great. You can fit many windows on the screen, great for multi-tasking.

I multi-task a lot and like to be able to see more than one window at a time. Prior to this monitor, I had a pair of Samsung 19 inch wide panels. They were nice except the resolution height was only 900 pixels. I disliked that about the pair since the day I bought them. Great monitors and are good for just about anything except things like photoshop. The lack of height really gets annoying when working with large things.

Being irritated, I finally decided to go for the largest resolution available and I am very happy. The monitor does have a couple of draw backs though. It has no on screen display. The only buttons on the casing; are power and brightness. All color settings have to be made by the options of your graphics card. It works ok but an on screen display would be more convenient.

The other downside to the monitor is to play games at 2650×1600 you have to have a killer graphics card. With my setup I can’t run max settings, so that is kind of disappointing, but I will get a new graphics card to compensate sometime. The monitor has a built in card reader and usb hub. Nice feature so you don’t have to go far to upload pictures.

I would definitely recommend this monitor to anyone. The price tag is a bit steep but it is an amazing monitor.

Tiger Woods 07: Exclusive ReView

August 12th, 2007

So recently I haven’t really played too many video games.   However, I have been playing Tiger Woods 07 off and on.   It is a pretty fun game and the realism has greatly improved over previous releases of the game.   The fun factor of the game is great.   With the added realism, the game has became a little harder.   It takes a bit more of a learning curve but is still easy to adapt to after a short time.

This game is a game you will want to play over and over again, not throwing it away after a few plays.   The only complaint I have is that at some points the camera angle is really bad for chipping.   At any other type of shot it isn’t a problem and it is only sometimes at chipping.   I am not sure it is purposeful as the shot is more like a cinematic shot.   The game is great and I really recommend if you have any interest in the game that you surely check it out for yourself.    It is available for Xbox, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

New 4th Gen. Apple iMac: Exclusive Pre-View

August 9th, 2007

iMac desktop

So the new Apple iMac has been released.   It has been much awaited by many and everyone is excited to see what the 4th generation will hold.

First things to note about it, is that it has new keyboard.   The new keyboard is very thin (which is awesome), and greatly designed.   However, there are a couple of complaints with its design.   The keys are flat, which make it hard to find the edges of the keys.   Also, with this new keyboard they moved the locations of function keys.  Most notably the volume control has moved and this may dissapoint those who currently have other macs.

The astetic design of the iMac is very pleasing to the eye.   It is almost as if they were planning the iMac to be a table decoration as opposed to a very powerful computer.   One problem with the design; they haven’t replaced the single button mouse.   Luckily you are able to use just about any mouse with your new system.

What about performance?   We have all known the Mac family to  be excellent performers.    The new system is no exception, they pack an Intel Core 2 Duo processor into it along with a full size hard drive.   It is amazing how much power and quality components they can cram into that thin monitor.   The system boots in a mere 26 seconds, pretty impressive.   Quality and power we have come to expect from the Macbook Pro and Mac Pro in a unique small form factor desktop.   The system is much cheaper than its brothers carrying the Pro name.

So you now have the option of a Mac which has the power of its older brothers and a lower price.   What is not to love about this new system.   Definately something worth checking out if you are in the market for a new desktop.

Sony Playstation 3 becoming a TIVO?: Exclusive PreView

August 2nd, 2007

So rumor has it that Sony is going to give the PS3 features of a Tivo. Sony is hurting pretty bad currently with the PS3. The fact they are losing money on every system is not getting turned around too fast. Their thought is to expand the audience of the PS3. If the PS3 does more things maybe it will be even more attractive to more people. Will Sony benefit from this move? Should they stick with gaming? Who knows yet, only time will tell. At least all of you Playstation owners will with the talk of adding all kinds of new features. Comment and tell what your thoughts are on the potential of new PS3 features.

Best bang for your buck ultracompact camera buying Guide: Exclusive Product ReView

July 8th, 2007

Canon Powershot

To start things off, this camera buying guide isn’t for everyone. People have different wants and needs, in photography. This buying guide is for people with similar usage to my own, which I will explain. If you are a person who has different wants and needs; please send an email to exclusiveview@gmail.com and tell me about your wants and needs. I am always willing to write a customized ReView.

Alright, what are my wants and usages for a camera. Well I want something small, the smaller the better. I do not like carrying around a big camera. If I still had a big camera it would sit at home like the ones I have had. I am much more inclined to use a small camera that I can just throw in my pocket.

Isn’t it true the smaller cameras don’t have as good of picture quality? Well that used to be the case. With all of our wonderful technology advancements, you can have ultracompact cameras that give an amazing picture. The biggest down side to the ultracompact cameras is that most have only 3x or 4x optical zoom.

30GB iPod Video vs 30GB Microsoft Zune: Exclusive Product ReView

June 30th, 2007

ipod Video & Microsoft Zune

I know this is a bit old, but I have never voiced my opinion against the two. Popularity states that the iPod is supreme ruler of the portable music world. Is this true? Lets find out.

For starters, the iPod has a long running history of portable music players. The sound quality is superb, the ease of use is supreme and the quality and sleekness of the device is very sexy. The Zune on the other hand is pretty much the exact opposite. It’s not sexy, sleek or visually appealing at all. Come on, BROWN?

Alright, I’ll have to admit, their advertising itself leads you to believe that the Zune is the “Michael Jackson (1980’s) of portable players”. Yet, when the advertisements suckered me into buying one, it left me thinking “This piece of junk is the 2007 version of Michael Jackson”. It left me 100% confused, and often times, left me feeling like stalking little kids.. Ha ha, just kidding.

PS3 vs Xbox 360 requested: Exclusive Product ReView

June 30th, 2007

Playstation 3Xbox 360 Elite

A friend wrote in requesting a comparison between the PS3 and Xbox 360. This is a very interesting topics as these two products are in very fierce competition. Both are fairly expensive, come in multiple versions, and are extremely powerful gaming systems.

I will start off first with information about the Playstation 3 from Sony. The playstation 3 has the most advanced hardware of any gaming system yet. It also has a Blu-ray disc drive for watching the latest Blu-ray movies. Sony went all out in the high quality components it included in this system. They actually were losing money on every system sold at release. I am not aware if this has changed yet but in the future it surely will. If they are losing money, why would they release it? The answer is; they intend on making it all back with the sales of games.

Windows Vista is even the Ultimate version really the Ultimate OS?: Exclusive Product ReView

June 27th, 2007

Windows Vista

So Vista has been released, or unleashed on the world. However you want to look at it. It has several different options. Microsoft has made 5 editions of its new operating system. They are trying to fit into every person’s needs. There are Ultimate, Home Premium, Home Basic, Business, and Enterprise available for your purchase in both 32 and 64bit versions.

What’s the difference? Well they are all the same basic thing with each having different added features depending on your application. Ultimate has every possible option while the rest have stripped out the options Microsoft thinks you will not need for your purpose. Over at Extremetech.com they wrote a good article “Which edition is right for you?“, be sure and check that out if you want to know which edition you should purchase.

TV’s have Plasma it’s not only in your blood: Exclusive Product ReView

June 18th, 2007

So in the past 6 months I have helped several people buy new High Definition TV’s and I purchased one myself. I ended up going with a 50 inch Samsung Plasma HP-T5054 and absolutely love it.

Prior to all of the research I did in helping others buy TV’s, I would have never bought a plasma TV. Why you ask? Screen burn, it was a huge problem and made your really expensive TV look like garbage quickly. When an image was displayed on the screen for too long, it would actually have a permanent ghosting of that image. However, I learned with new technologies screen burn isn’t so much of an issue anymore. The model I have actually has a section in the menu called “screen burn protection” and in this menu it has settings to move the picture ever so slightly periodically along with a few other things to help prevent the hideous screen burn. With that said, now I would recommend a plasma TV as a good solution to your entertainment needs.
